Emergency Hand-Crank 7-in-1 Radio

New Zealanders understand emergencies.

Earthquakes. Storm events. Power cuts. Civil Defence alerts. Even just being stuck on the side of the road with a flat battery and no signal.

That’s exactly why we introduced our Emergency Hand Crank 7-in-1 Radio into the OEM Audio product range.

I found this product at a Hong Kong trade show and immediately saw the potential. The concept was good — but we worked through a few refinements to make it genuinely practical for Kiwi households.

The result is a unit that’s not just for emergencies — it’s actually useful day to day.

Why Every Home Should Have One

When the power goes out, most modern homes lose:

  • Internet
  • WiFi calling
  • TV
  • Device charging
  • Often even basic lighting

In a real emergency, a simple battery radio becomes one of the most important tools in the house.

But we didn’t want to sell a “basic” radio.

We wanted something people would actually use.

What Makes Ours Different

1. Digital Radio Display
Many emergency radios still use analogue tuning dials. They work — but they’re imprecise.
We upgraded this model to include a clear digital display, making it easy to tune accurately to your preferred AM or FM frequency. In a Civil Defense event, that matters.

2. 4000mAh Built-In Power Bank
A proper emergency device needs to keep your phone alive.
This unit includes a 4000mAh internal battery, giving you the ability to top up your smartphone when the grid is down.
Charge it via:

  • USB
  • Solar panel
  • Or hand crank

It gives you options when options are limited.

3. Bluetooth Connectivity
Let’s be honest — everything is better with Bluetooth.
We added Bluetooth so the radio isn’t just an emergency device that sits untouched in a cupboard. You can use it:

  • At the beach
  • On camping trips
  • In the garage
  • At the bach

If it’s useful day to day, you’re far more likely to keep it charged and ready.

True Multi-Function Capability

  • Our 7-in-1 unit includes:
  • AM/FM radio
  • Hand crank generator
  • Solar charging panel
  • USB charging
  • Large 4000mAh power bank
  • LED torch
  • Bluetooth speaker
  • Digital display
It’s compact, practical and built to be thrown into a glovebox, emergency kit or kitchen drawer.

Not Just for Natural Disasters

While it’s ideal for earthquake or storm preparedness, it’s also perfect for:

  • Boating.
  • Camping.
  • Hunting trips.
  • Road trips.
  • Work vehicles.

Keeping in the caravan.
It’s one of those products that quietly makes sense once you own one

A Simple Recommendation

Every household should have:

  • A torch
  • A basic first aid kit
  • Bottled water
  • And a reliable emergency radio

This ticks all of those communication and backup power boxes in one device.
